The Video Game industry continues to grow at a staggering rate, with revenue up 18% in 2018 to a record-setting $43.4 Billion. This month, the L.A. section of the AES will take a look behind the scenes of Video Game Audio Production and talk to the experts who bring the games to life. We’ll examine the different roles that handle the Music, Dialogue and Sound Design and explore how they all come together to tell the story. Our panel will include:

 
 
Jeff Dombkowski has been working professionally in video game audio for 8 years.  He attended Vancouver Film School and received a diploma in Sound Design for Visual Media. He began his career in AAA game development with Microsoft Game Studios in 2011 and currently works as a Sound Designer for Insomniac Games.  His credits include Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary (2012), Killer Instinct Season Two (2014), Sunset Overdrive (2014), and Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018).

 
 
Herschell Bailey  attended the Art Institute of Seattle and graduated with a degree in audio post-production. He moved to Los Angeles looking for work in the video games industry and over the next 2 years worked as a quality assurance tester for Take-2 Interactive, Electronic Arts, THQ and Insomniac Games, with an emphasis on audio. He moved out of the quality assurance department at Insomniac Games, started editing dialogue and worked his way up over the next 11 years to the position of Senior Sound Designer. His list of credits includes the Ratchet & Clank Series, Resistance Series, Sunset Overdrive, Fuse, and Marvel’s Spider-Man.

 
 
Daniel Birczynski  is a sound designer for video games, TV, and film. His music background has led him to develop a unique style of sound design combining traditional techniques with musical and tonal approaches. This has led to successful collaborations with composers and producers on a variety of musical sound design projects. His professional credits also include work as engineer, music supervisor, orchestrator, and score production coordinator. He has worked at Sony, Activision and 7Studios and is currently an Audio Lead at Insomniac Games. His credits include God of War, Bound, God of War: Ascension, Hohokum, Starhawk, Skylanders, The Sopranos: Road to Respect, and Marvel’s Spider-man.

 
 
Patrick Michalak  has built his career over the past 18 years working as a staff Engineer at audio post production studios and game development studios across North America and Europe.  Most recently, he has worked as a Dialogue editor at BioWare, as a VO Designer and Producer at DICE, and as an Associate Producer of voice over and performance capture at BioWare.  Currently, he is the Senior Dialog Coordinator at Insomniac Games. His credits include Mass Effect2, Mass Effect 3, Dragon Age 2, Dragon Age Inquisition, Mirrors Edge Catalyst, Star Wars Battlefront, Mass Effect Andromeda, and Anthem.
 
 
Jerry Berlongieri has provided music, sound content and direction for a wide range of companies including Disney Interactive, Hasbro, THQ, Activision-Blizzard, Microsoft and Take-Two Interactive. He studied Music Composition at the University of Michigan and recently taught as an Assistant Professor at Berklee College of Music. Currently, he is an Audio Lead at Insomniac Games. His list of credits includes a number of top franchises such as Call of Duty, Skylanders, Spider-Man, Descent and Bond 007.

 
 
Christopher Denman is an experienced Sound Designer with a demonstrated history of working in the entertainment industry, supporting such franchises as Star Wars, Marvel, and Disney Animation. Skilled in Interactive Audio and Implementation for games, Audio Post-Production, VR and AR, and emerging technologies, Christopher is always looking to enhance the user experience with audio for all the projects he leads. He is a strong arts and design professional with a BAS focused in Audio. Christopher is currently a Senior Audio Designer at Walt Disney Imagineering - Game and Interactive Experiences.

 
 
Adam Hochstatter  is a composer, producer, conductor, and arranger for film, television, and video games. Adam has a Bachelor of Music degree in music theory at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, and is also a graduate of the Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television program at University of Southern California. During his time in Los Angeles, he has worked with some of the industries most respected composers including John Paesano, and Michael Reagan.
